ALEXANDRIA SANITATION AUTHORITY

This 54 million gallon a day advanced wastewater treatment plant, which serves the City of Alexandria and portions of the surrounding Fairfax County , is currently under a consent decree order to improve its removal of nutrients for the wastewater stream.

The facility upgrade will include the construction of a biological nutrient removal (BNR) unit process, which will require new reactor basins and upgrades to the secondary settling systems and equipment, which are approaching the end of their useful life.

On this project, E.R. Mitchell is to provide technical and program scheduling support services in conjunction with $300 million upgrade to existing wastewater facility. Responsible for the maintenance of the program construction schedules as well as the review of the Contractor requests for modification to the contract durations, evaluation of Contractor requests for equitable adjustments of contract terms, the development if claims avoidance strategies to be implemented by the construction management team, constructability and value engineering reviews, and management oversight of owner operations requiring integration with ongoing construction efforts.

 

 
 


BENNING ROAD BRIDGE

This existing bridge in Washington, D.C. is 500 feet long with steel plate girders supporting a concrete deck. Construction on this project includes: demolition of existing structure, new water main across the bridge, new telephone conduits across the bridge, a new storm drainage system across the bridge and bike paths and sidewalks. The project is excepted to be completed in April, 2003.
